Hoppers Crossing Netball Association creates opportunities for children, youth and adults to play, develop and enjoy netball. Based in Hoppers Crossing at Mossfiel Reserve, HCNA offers Saturday competitions, representative pathways and umpire development for our local netball community.
Registrations for representative trials are open for the U11, U13, U15 and U17 age groups.

Competitions
HCNA offers competitions for children, youth and adults across a range of ages and ability levels. All Saturday matches are played at Mossfiel Reserve, with age groups and divisions determined each season based on registrations and team numbers. This may include an Under 17 competition where sufficient interest is received.

Saturday Competition
Our main competition, played every Saturday at Mossfiel Reserve across a range of junior and senior age groups.
A modified junior competition supporting participation, confidence and early skill development.
A structured junior competition for players continuing to develop their skills, teamwork and game understanding.
A graded Saturday competition supporting development across a range of ability levels.
A competitive junior division for players building confidence, consistency and court craft.
A mixed competition option for eligible players, delivered in line with current competition and gender participation requirements.
A senior competition supporting continued participation, competition and connection at HCNA.
NetSetGO
HCNA proudly runs Woolworths NetSetGO every Saturday alongside its junior competition. NetSetGO is netball's official introductory program for ages 5 to 10, developing skills through games and fun, and is the ideal first step before junior competition.
Fast5
HCNA runs Fast5 across 13 & Under, 15 & Under, Open Mixed and Open Female divisions. This short November to December competition offers a fast, social and enjoyable format to finish the year.
Men's League
HCNA fields boys teams in the VMMNA Men's League, run by the Victorian Men's & Mixed Netball Association. We field Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 boys teams.
Getting started
Answers to common questions from new players and families.
Once you have connected with a club and been placed in a team, you can register for the season through NetballConnect by searching for your club or team.
Yes. Many of our players started with no experience at all. NetSetGO is the ideal entry point for young players, and new players are welcome across our Saturday competitions.
NetSetGO is netball's official introductory program for ages 5 to 10, run by HCNA every Saturday alongside our regular competition. It develops skills through games and fun, and is the ideal first step before junior competition.
Qualifying age is determined as at the day of the Grand Final. We encourage all players to play within their appropriate age group. Your club can help determine the most suitable age group and division.
Each team belongs to one of our member clubs. Visit the Clubs page to find a club and contact them directly about joining a team.
Boys are welcome to participate in competition without restriction up to and including the 13 & Under age group. For mixed competitions offered above 13 & Under, participation may be subject to competition requirements. In line with the Netball Victoria Gender Regulation, a maximum of three males may be on court at one time, with only one male permitted in each third of the court.

Hoppers Rep
Hoppers Rep provides committed athletes with the opportunity to compete, develop and represent Hoppers Crossing Netball Association against leading associations from across Victoria.
About the program
Hoppers Rep is designed for athletes who are committed, coachable and ready to challenge themselves in a higher-performance environment.
HCNA invests in athlete development through quality coaching, specialist sessions, tournament opportunities, workshops and a strong team-first culture. The program supports athletes to grow both on and off the court, with HCNA values considered just as important as on-court performance.

Rotary Cup — HCNA v Wyndham

How trials work
Trials are held toward the end of each year for the following season. Athletes attend multiple sessions and are assessed by a selection panel in line with the Selection Policy.
Register via Netball Trials
Register for trials through Netball Trials when registrations open.
Attend trial sessions
Attend two to three trial sessions across the relevant age groups.
Squad selection
The internal and external selection panel confirms squads, and all families are notified of the outcome.
Pre-season begins
Squads begin training together ahead of the season.

One of the strongest boys programs in the state
HCNA is proud to field one of the leading boys representative programs in Victoria. Our boys squads compete across the Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 age groups, and have consistently reached and won state finals.

Play Boys Rep at HoppersRepresentative umpiring
The representative pathway at HCNA extends beyond athletes. Each season, the association nominates umpires for the representative pathway, where they are assessed by Netball Victoria umpire coaches at events such as State Titles and Association Championships.
From the 2026/27 season, HCNA will introduce a Representative Umpire Squad: a selected group of umpires who train alongside representative athletes, with specialist sessions, coaching and mentoring throughout the season, as well as opportunities to umpire at Association Championships with HCNA. The squad ensures umpires with representative ambitions receive the same preparation and support provided to our athletes.

Umpire badge pathway
These steps take a new umpire from their first whistle to a National C Badge, the first nationally recognised umpiring accreditation. There is no minimum age to start.

Mentor Program
HCNA provides mentoring and match-day support for umpires at every stage of their development. New and unbadged umpires receive guidance from experienced mentors, while badged umpires continue to receive feedback to help strengthen their confidence, consistency and game management.

New umpires are supported by experienced mentors as they begin umpiring games at HCNA.
2. Ongoing Feedback
Umpires receive regular courtside feedback and development support throughout the season.
3. Badge Pathway
HCNA supports umpires working towards their National C Badge, with continued mentoring after badging to help them consolidate and keep progressing.
Green bands and green shirts
If you see a green wristband on an umpire, they're under 18. It's part of Netball Victoria's green band program, letting players, coaches and spectators know a young umpire is on court, so they can get a bit of extra patience and encouragement.
HCNA also puts learner umpires of any age in green trainee shirts, so it's clear when someone is still finding their feet. Green band or green shirt, it means the same thing: go easy on them, they're learning.
Umpires make our game possible. Positive sideline behaviour, patience and encouragement help young and learner umpires build the confidence to keep umpiring.

HCNA Tournament
The HCNA Tournament brings together club and association teams for a welcoming and competitive one-day netball event at Mossfiel Reserve.

Tournament Overview
The HCNA Tournament provides teams with the opportunity to experience a different style of competition, play against new opponents and enjoy a well-organised day of netball.
Who Can Enter
Club and association teams are welcome to enter. Teams are placed into suitable divisions where possible to support fair and enjoyable match play.
Age Groups
Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17. Boys are eligible to participate in the Under 11 and Under 13 divisions.
Venue
Mossfiel Reserve, Hoppers Crossing. All matches are played at a single venue.
On the Day
First aid and a canteen are available on-site. Each participating team is required to provide one umpire.
Common Questions
Any club or association may enter. HCNA grades every team into the most appropriate division to keep matches fair and competitive.
Teams may register a maximum of 12 players.
Closing dates are confirmed alongside the tournament date each year. Register your interest and we will notify you once entries open.
HCNA follows Netball Victoria's wet weather guidelines. As the courts at Mossfiel Reserve are all-purpose, the tournament can generally proceed in most weather conditions.
Teams are graded into divisions according to age group and playing standard, ensuring every team competes at an appropriate level.
Parking and format details are provided in the Tournament Information Pack, issued once your entry is confirmed.
